Introducing Doctoral Training Centres

Environmental sustainability is one of the greatest challenges the world is facing. The SustAI centre is a £15M investment into a multidisciplinary and inclusive doctoral training programme aiming to reduce emissions and waste and increase renewable energy production using artificial intelligence. The SustAI doctoral training centre will provide 70 fully funded 4-year PhD studentships over 5 academic years.

The CDT in Complex Integrated Systems for Defence and Security (CISDnS) will train future research and innovation leaders across the multi-disciplinary themes of digital, physical and biological systems, with the research focus extending beyond engineering and physical sciences, to environmental and life sciences, social sciences and medicine. We offer both full-time and part-time routes of study, with enhanced full-funded studentships available to UK candidates.

Researchers in Engineering and Physical Sciences are defining and developing substantial areas of research that impact on the fast-changing world in which we live.

Our research rankings place us at the forefront of the UK's research-intensive Russell Group Universities for our subjects, and our degree programmes are highly regarded by leading global employers and companies requiring the skills needed to develop theories and technologies that will enhance our understanding and shape our future world.
